About Hillcrest Fencing

You might say Matt Jones has fence building in his blood.

Jones, the founder and owner of Hillcrest Fencing, learned the trade of quality fence building from his father, who owned a fencing company in Corvallis, Oregon, for 20 years.

“I started at age 10 – I was out there, doing it alongside my dad,” Matt says. “I also learned a lot from a guy my dad learned from in California. He was a big fence contractor in the Napa Valley.”

In addition to helping his dad with the fencing business, Matt grew up on his family’s ranch, learning about animals and animal behavior. Later, he studied agricultural business management at Linn-Benton Community College – and the combination has made him a great fit with agricultural and rural clients.

“I have a good feel for ag-biz customers and their needs. I grew up on a ranch, and I understand what animals’ tendencies are and what works for them,” Matt explains. “We don’t use materials that could potentially hurt them or put them in hazardous situations.”

It wasn’t until 2005, a few years after Matt’s father closed his fencing business, that Matt decided to open Hillcrest Fencing. He had continued to do small jobs for his father’s former clients, and demand for his services and the attention to detail he brings to every job created an increasing amount of work for Matt.

“My dad had gotten out of the business but people still needed help. It snowballed from there. I used my experience and knowledge from helping my dad, and I used my dad’s expertise to get the ball rolling too,” Matt says.

Now, Hillcrest’s reputation for high-quality work has spread throughout Oregon and Washington. The crew at Hillcrest Fencing works on agricultural, residential and commercial projects, with particular experience working with vineyards.
